Lost: Community & Humane Interaction

This is not your average 5-10 second video with flashy flashy's and sound bytes to grab your attention. You've had enough of those for now. Take a break from that and take a few minutes to think, yeah?

First post here since the world went to hell in a handbasket. Hold on. It'll be a bumpy ride.

I realize I've withdrawn into distraction for lack of a healthy amount of actual human interaction, and I'm betting others have too - especially with the pandemic going on. Not all of the disconnection is pandemic related though. We say we're online to be more connected - but what I see is being surrounded by others in real life and interacting with them as little as possible. It's no wonder some of us are mean to each other or individualistic in our drive to achieve and acquire - why would we care about people who aren't us? It's death by division, and/or opening ourselves up to whomever can rule us because of the division.

I look around and see so many noses buried so deep in our electronics that we have tuned out the actual people who get in the way of the microdosing of chemical blips of bliss being drip-fed to us by likes, subscribes, similar opinions, & validations by people who have no real bearing on us... We're drowning in the distractions.

Minutes add up to hours add up to decades. What are you going to be saying when on your death bed? Oh, I'm a badass because I got to level 99 prestige on this or that game or platform? That I've spent many thousands of dollars and years sitting in various chairs getting beauty work done trying to hide our aging - covering the things that show us we've survived so far? Are the baubles and bits going to miss our personhood, our personality, or be at our funeral?

Where are the interesting dialogues or conversations instead of people yelling opinions at a one-way mirror with a microphone? Because that's what I need. Free deep-thinking conversations here. Look up. Be real. Be ready to learn and to teach. Seriously - take a break and talk to a real person in real life about something with more substance than whatever 5-10 second video you just watched that won't matter in 5 minutes.
